Mr Habib has a special interest in macular hole surgery, epiretinal membrane (ERM) surgery, surgery for vitreous floaters, and treating complicated cataracts. He has wide surgical interests in the treatments of retinal and macular diseases, diabetic bleeds and retinal detachments. Mr Habib has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreo-retinal Surgeon at Sunderland Eye Infirmary since 2011.  Mr Habib’s special clinical interest in medical retinal diseases is in the management of diabetic eye disease and retinal vascular disorders and macular degeneration. He is the lead for the digital surveillance Diabetic Retinopathy screening service. Mr Habib has extensive research activities in the development of novel treatments and techniques dealing with artificial intelligence and retinal diseases and is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Biosciences Institute, Newcastle University.
