Heel Pain

What Is Heel Pain?

Heel pain, or plantar fasciitis, is the inflammation of the fibrous tissue (plantar fascia) along the bottom of the foot that connects the heel bone to your toes.

What You Might Experience?

  • Mild to severe pain in the heel area which is worse in the morning and after long periods of rest
  • Could develop an abnormal walking style as you try to avoid placing weight on the affected heel which can result in pain elsewhere in the body.

How Can It Be Treated?

A Biomechanical Assessment would be advised as heel pain is often caused by abnormal walking patterns. Your podiatrist may prescribe exercises, foot mobilisation, orthotics or a combination of treatments to help correct the foot function.
